Athena Ripka was born and raised in New York City. At three years old, Athena began tap dancing and playing violin. By 6 years old, she was performing in operas at the Metropolitan Opera in Lincoln Center including Manon with Renee Fleming. At age 7, Athena started her formal ballet training at The School of American Ballet.
Athena danced in New York City Ballets' Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty, and Circus Polka. Athena danced a ballet solo in Alice Tully Hall for Merry Christmas New York City. Athena has played her violin in numerous benefit concerts, in the movie The Good Shepard directed by Robert DeNiro, and in Carnegie Hall as part of an anniversary performance. Athena has performed in several Off Broadway shows and festivals. One of her favorites was playing Michelle in The American Girl Doll show, Circle of Friends.
Athena's dream came true when she was cast as Cindy Lou, a principle, in Dr. Suess' How the Grinch Stole Christmas The Musical on Broadway. Athena's portrayal of Cindy Lou, an innocent, sweet, and loving little girl who won the Grinches heart earned her complimentary reviews and an outstanding supporting actress award from the National Youth Theatre. Athena returned to Broadway as Susan Waverly in Irving Berlins White Christmas at the Marquis Theatre. Later that year, Athena performed in The Wizard of Oz at Madison Square Garden as a Munchkin and Winky.
Athena has appeared on TV in 30 Rock, Law and Order SVU, and the CBS Morning Show. Her voice has been on Wonder Pets, Sesame Street, The Electric Company, and Dora The Explorer.
Athena continues to pursue her passion by studying voice, acting, ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, violin, and guitar. Athena writes and records original music.
